This 1950s side-split house situated atop a picturesque ravine presented the perfect home transformation opportunity. The exterior brick wall was in solid shape, but the interior was rundown and demanded extensive repairs. We worked closely with our clients to craft a one-of-a-kind Japandi-style home that not only bonds with the world without, but more deeply, bonds with the world within.
Our clients wanted their home to be a tranquil space that is immersed with the surrounding nature. We therefore placed particular focus on window enlargements, skylight additions and selecting materials that complement the local landscape and vegetation. We also blurred the boundary between “indoor” and “outdoor” by inviting natural elements inside such as wood, stone and natural light from all directions.
The end result is a highly customized space that is equipped with the comfort of modern amenities whilst quietly complementing the surrounding environment.
