Nestled beside Huanxiu Lake in Suzhou, Larimar Center is endowed with exceptional natural landscapes. The design responds to the sophisticated tastes of a high-end clientele, drawing inspiration from Suzhou’s unique character—a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, where the solidity of stone meets the fluidity of water. This project creates an intimate luxury landscape that merges local cultural heritage with the ambiance of an international resort. It translates the subtle elegance and timeless charm of Jiangnan water towns into a spatial narrative, forming a cultural geometry through landscape design.

Although compact in scale, the project embraces “refinement and diversity” as its core principle. A central guiding system, formed by landscape corridors, facilitates a smooth transition from the urban public realm into the building’s exhibition hall. These corridors merge seamlessly with the building’s transitional zones, establishing a borderless, transparent interface that enhances the sense of a relaxed urban retreat. The design adopts the classical Suzhou garden concept of “scenes changing with every step,” ensuring that each turn reveals a new visual experience and infusing the space with a sense of discovery.

The entrance forecourt sets a tone of calm and order through warm-toned travertine feature walls and slatted wood grilles, conveying understated elegance. Inside, a courtyard centered on a water feature forms the project’s landscape heart. The water system radiates outward, linking various functional zones—raised platforms, sunken seating, terraces, and corridors—into a fluid and cohesive sensory journey.

Materiality further enriches the experience: warm hues establish a gentle foundation, while layered timber screens introduce depth and a resort-like character reminiscent of Southeast Asia and Singapore. At the pool’s base, luxurious blue stone echoes the natural texture of larimar—a subtle nod to the project’s name. These premium materials impart a quiet luxury, striking a refined balance between aesthetic appeal and functional design in a contemporary landscape of distinction.
