Located within the Bangtai Yunjing residential community in Chengdu, this clubhouse is designed as a contemporary community living room inspired by the spirit of New Literati aesthetics. The project creates a multifunctional social space where residents can gather, communicate, and relax, fostering a refined environment that blends cultural depth with everyday community life.
Responding to Chengdu’s local climate conditions, the design divides the space into enclosed and open zones, allowing indoor and outdoor areas to interact and flow naturally. This spatial strategy reflects the traditional Eastern philosophy of harmony between humans and nature. By encouraging permeability and adaptability, the space offers both comfort and resilience for year-round use.
Material selection plays a key role in shaping the atmosphere. Durable, high-strength bricks were chosen to ensure long-term performance, while natural marble inspired by the imagery of Chinese landscape painting runs throughout the interior. The marble’s flowing textures evoke mountains and rivers, creating a poetic dialogue between material and space. Through the subtle interplay of light, gloss, and natural surfaces, the design establishes a calm and elegant visual rhythm.
The overall palette centers on black, white, and gray, complemented by understated matte gold accents. Gold appears delicately throughout the space—in elements such as soft gold leaf finishes, copper details, warm lighting tones, and subtle star-like effects on stone surfaces—enriching the environment with a sense of quiet luxury and depth.
Natural textures form the foundation of the visual language, while bamboo becomes the only figurative motif within the design. As an important cultural symbol in Chengdu, bamboo represents resilience and elegance. Its presence is interpreted through lighting shadows, perforated aluminum panels, carpets, and cushion patterns, weaving this traditional motif throughout the space in both visible and abstract forms.
Through the integration of natural materials, restrained color palettes, and cultural symbolism, the Bangtai Yunjing Clubhouse creates a serene yet sophisticated social environment—an urban retreat that embodies contemporary Eastern aesthetics and a refined community lifestyle.
