This project explores a sustainable vertical farming prototype that merges indoor agriculture with unmanned aerial technology. Set within a repurposed industrial warehouse, the design leverages the building’s existing structural and logistical advantages—such as transportation access and storage capacity—to minimize construction waste and reduce environmental impact.

Vertical farming stacks and a public circulation spine are inserted into the structural grid, maximizing spatial efficiency while preserving the site’s industrial character. Drones play a central role throughout the farming cycle—from planting and monitoring to harvesting and distribution—resulting in a fully automated, high-yield system that reduces labor and resource consumption.

By capitalizing on the site’s inherent assets, the project eliminates the need for new infrastructure and avoids the embodied carbon of ground-up construction. This adaptive reuse strategy transforms underutilized urban fabric into productive ecological infrastructure, offering a replicable model for sustainable development in dense urban areas.

As urban populations are projected to exceed 80% globally by 2050—and arable land continues to shrink—the demand for compact, resource-efficient food systems is more critical than ever. This prototype demonstrates how architecture can respond proactively to that challenge, integrating agriculture into city cores without compromising density, efficiency, or environmental responsibility.

The project reflects a climate-conscious approach to preservation, reframing industrial relics as platforms for innovation. It aligns with broader public goals by promoting food security, reducing carbon emissions, and revitalizing post-industrial neighborhoods. Ultimately, it positions architecture as a catalyst for long-term environmental resilience and sustainable urban transformation.
