The Carolina Herrera boutique in La Jolla brings the brand's signature femininity, joy, and gravitas to the luminous California coast.
The design takes its cues from the Herrera brand code, while embracing the warmth and ease of its coastal setting. The material palette is intentionally softened — blush and white replace the brand's iconic black and white hex tile, reinterpreted in pink marble and white limestone as a subtle nod to the Madison Avenue flagship. Curved plaster walls infused with mica flakes shimmer gently as light moves through the space, washed from above by curved cove lighting that accentuates their sculptural form. A breathtaking Murano glass chandelier anchors the space with quiet drama.
Custom ribbon-like bronze rails, inspired by the fluid movement of a ribbon caught mid-air, introduce a sculptural femininity throughout, as garments appear to float effortlessly along their curves. An entry feature wall with a sculptural imprinted archway frames the brand's accessories with quiet ceremony. Custom fluted travertine cross-selling fixtures and pedestals punctuate the floor, offering moments of merchandise display with material warmth and refinement. A feature curved VIP fitting room extends the boutique's sense of intimacy and care to its most personal moments.
The high ceilings lend the space a sense of grandeur and gravitas, grounded by the signature hex pattern underfoot. Touches of Herrera red accent the interior with the brand's defining strength. Outside, a new limestone-based plaster façade, articulated with reveals that echo the proportions of the Herrera flagship, establishes a monumental presence. Tall arched windows and round red awnings reimagine the Madison Avenue mansion's signature facade — grander in scale, softer in form.
Completed in March 2026, in collaboration with Wes Gordon, this boutique represents the culmination of a collaboration we are deeply proud of, a space that is at once a retail environment, a work of craft, and a celebration of women.
