"Qu Yuan Fang Yin" Family Library

""Qu Yuan Fang Yin" Library is located in Shenzhen and is a private home library. Home libraries focus more on the inheritance of family culture and the growth of individuals, serving as the beacon of wisdom for the family, reflecting the unique role and value of home libraries. The design skillfully integrates traditional elements with contemporary aesthetics to create an artistic atmosphere, aiming to provide family members with a unique space for reading and contemplation.

The design concept of the library is mainly reflected in three aspects. First, traditional elements are innovatively applied to contemporary design. For example, the designer's innovative treatment of the spiral staircase not only enhances the continuity of the space but also fills the entire space with artistic tension. Second, the clever interaction between linear solid wood bookshelves, gray wool carpets, light gray latex paint, gradient glass, and the base paint of the Forbidden City red walls creates a simple yet charming spatial atmosphere. Especially the appearance of the translucent window patterns from the Republic of China period and the marble floor inlay make the space more dynamic while reflecting the accumulation of culture and the charm of history. These elements together demonstrate the innovative spirit of the transformation from traditional Chinese aesthetics to contemporary aesthetics. In addition, the lighting design hidden in the display shelves not only retains the integrity of the ceiling but also eliminates dazzling glare, bringing readers a comfortable reading experience. Finally, the designer emphasized the concept of breaking spatial boundaries, directly connecting each floor through a rotating staircase, which enhances the fluidity of the space.

The cylindrical space, rotating staircase, and arrayed linear shelves, using contemporary innovative design techniques of traditional Chinese elements, give the entire space dynamic changes and rhythm, endowing the library with new vitality.
