Rather than concentrating the theme on a single feature wall or display cabinet, this project adopts an “Easter egg” design approach, distributing game-inspired elements subtly throughout the entryway, living room, dining area, balcony, and study.
The playful experience begins immediately upon entering. The entrance is framed with a castle-inspired form that sets the scene, while mirrors become portals leading into another spatial dimension. A vertical pole beside the entry subtly references the flagpole that marks the completion of a game level.
In the living room, a Mario display column stands atop a green pipe-inspired base, becoming the first visual clue to the home’s thematic narrative. The kitchen island is finished with matte red subway tiles featuring delicate linear textures, echoing iconic gaming scenes while establishing the dining area as the visual focal point of the social area.
Within the glass cabinet, question-mark blocks appear like hidden surprises embedded along the circulation path, naturally catching the eye as one moves through the dining area. On the balcony side, suspended pipe-shaped ceiling elements also function as lighting fixtures. The designers intentionally revealed only part of the forms along the beam edges, creating a subtle sense of discovery. Above the dining table, cloud-inspired ceiling lighting and custom bullet-shaped pendant lamps further translate gaming imagery into functional lighting design.
