Located in the northwest comprehensive service zone of the Start-up Area of Xiongan New Area, the project is a major housing security development planned to provide more than 3,480 residential units for employees relocated from central state-owned enterprises. Its design responds to Xiongan’s vision of a modern city suitable for living and working, integrating residential, commercial and public services into a comprehensive, all-age living environment.
Inspired by the Northern Song Dynasty masterpiece A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains, the design translates the painting’s intertwined mountains and continuous emerald scenery into a contemporary residential landscape. Emerald green becomes the visual foundation, while the land serves as a canvas for a spatial interpretation of harmonious coexistence between nature and humanity. The architecture and community are conceived around the natural principle of “life and growth,” taking root beside the urban green corridor and creating a seamless relationship between built space and surrounding ecology.
Rather than treating landscape as a collection of isolated nodes, the project adopts the concept of a “grand community within a grand garden.” Centralized green spaces, pocket parks and shaded slow-traffic corridors are connected into a continuous landscape network. The central axis and neighborhood life center organize the community, integrating cultural socialization, leisure, shopping and daily services while strengthening accessibility, vitality and a sense of belonging.
The architectural language draws from traditional Chinese spatial order while avoiding excessive ornamentation. Symmetrical jujube-red roofs, upright facade lines, refined cornices and contemporary materials establish a recognizable identity that responds to Xiongan’s urban style requirements. A modular planning framework accommodates diverse apartment types and functional needs while maintaining a coherent architectural language across the community.
Sustainability is embedded through three-star green building certification, gold-grade residential certification, high-performance insulation and airtight doors and windows, energy-saving measures, acoustic optimization, and a multilayered ecological network. By integrating green infrastructure with community life, the project supports microclimate regulation, biodiversity and rainwater storage, creating a residential environment that balances ecological responsibility, comfort, efficiency and contemporary Chinese character.
