Located in Avándaro, Valle de Bravo, Estado de México, this residence is a thoughtful transformation of an existing architectural structure. The intervention focused on the interior architecture and design, renewing the pool, terrace, master bedroom, master bathroom, and overall façade.
The project, developed over 18 months, was inspired by a journey through Peru and Ecuador, where the designer immersed herself in local culture, with particular attention to its rich textile traditions. This influence became a guiding element in the selection of materials, colors, textures, and decorative pieces throughout the home.
The architectural palette combines different types of cantera, natural stone, marble, and warm-toned woods to create an inviting atmosphere appropriate for a retreat in the surrounding landscape. The residence features four bedrooms, with materials and textiles carefully selected around a palette that includes Marsala, Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year.
Decorative elements were chosen to add character and a sense of timeless design. Among them are the iconic La Lampe Gras fixtures by DCW éditions, originally designed by Bernard-Albin Gras, as well as the striking Series 16 pendant by Omer Arbel for Canadian brand Bocci, which becomes a focal point in the dining room.
The kitchen introduces an unexpected element through its custom blue appliances, creating a vibrant contrast with the lighting and the parota wood island countertop. Throughout the interiors, statement rugs from Kelly Wearstler’s collection for The Rug Company add further layers of texture and personality.
The terrace extends the interior language outdoors, combining Paola Navone’s Kan collection for Modo in Casa with carefully selected Cassamance fabrics and outdoor leather.
Ultimately, the project reflects the designer’s vision of creating environments that respond to specific needs while blending curated design pieces with the clients’ personal belongings. The result goes beyond a vacation residence: it is a warm, deeply personal home.
