Located in Jinshan, New Taipei City, this project enters its 7th edition, rooted in the coastal waves and the preservation of the traditional "sulfur fire fishing" culture, continuously exploring how local heritage can attract visitors. Continuing the Urban Green Aesthetics project, "2026 North Coast Light Festival" takes the shoreline as its stage, integrating fire dance, light shows, and art installations. It merges local landscapes with cultural traditions into an immersive theater, driving night tourism. Introducing AI interactive technology for the first time, the event deepens participant engagement through soundwave sensing and dynamic light variations. Having accumulated over 1.07 million visitors across past editions, it is shaping a signature summer festival for Jinshan.
Taking Jhongjiao Bay as a natural theater, the event lets the seascape directly join the performance. Coming True Fire Group presented "Formosa Flame – Galloping Horses," weaving Taiwanese coastlines, temple plazas, and festive motifs into their dance. Flames slice through the night sky alongside rhythmic choreography, blending drumbeats with crashing waves. The event also premiered the "Nightfall Flowing Sound Electronic Party" featuring House and Wave genres to heat up the summer nights.
Another highlight is the collaboration with Ming Chi University of Technology to launch three AI interactive light installations: " Sulfuric Fire Fishing," "Waves & Sunset," and "Fish Road Historic Trail." Among them, "Fish Road Historic Trail" responds to visitors' presence, gestures, or voices with altering light patterns, making local stories an engaging reality.
Participation extends beyond art appreciation to sustainability: autonomous beach cleanups reward visitors with ocean market coupons based on collected waste weight, linking environmental action to local spending. Meanwhile, marine-waste aesthetic workshops invite participants to reshape driftwood and discarded buoys into new art pieces.
