River&Stones is a coffee table that embodies the serene beauty and timeless spirit of a pile of stones in a river. Growing up in the countryside near the mountains, I spent countless summer days playing in the river, where I was captivated by the way water flowed over and around smooth rocks. This memory served as the foundation for the design, which aims to bring the tranquility and natural elegance of a river scene into the home.
The table’s design is a harmonious blend of materials and forms, each chosen to evoke the essence of water and stone. The tabletop is crafted from wavy glass, designed to capture the reflection and refraction of light, mimicking the way water moves over a rocky riverbed. The glass surface is more than just a visual element—it invites interaction, drawing the eye and hand to explore its undulating texture.
Supporting the glass is a structure made of stainless steel, chosen for its strength and durability. The stainless steel not only provides stable support but also adds a modern, sleek contrast to the organic forms of the glass and stone textures. The surface of the table leg is enhanced with a marble stone pattern, carefully applied to replicate the feeling of rocks lying beneath the water. This pattern, along with the wavy glass, creates an illusion of water ripples reflecting on the riverbed, further enhancing the table’s connection to nature.
River&Stones is more than just a piece of furniture—it is an experience, a way to bring the peace and beauty of nature into the home. Whether placed in a living room or an office, this table serves as a constant reminder of the quiet, enduring beauty of the natural world, offering a moment of calm in our busy lives.
