Heritage Halo, situated by the lakeside in Chongming, Shanghai, is a modern residence born from the renovation and reconstruction of an old family house. It carries the memories of generations and symbolizes the legacy of a century-old family. The design centers around the principles of "sunlight, greenery, and Yin-Yang balance." The central atrium, bathed in sunlight, represents the protection and blessings from ancestors, offering warmth and tranquility to future generations, and seamlessly blending family heritage with the harmony of nature.

Heritage Halo ingeniously integrates functionality with aesthetics. The first floor features a spacious tatami area for both leisure and connection with nature. A central pond allows for relaxation, tea drinking, fishing, and raising fish, while the circular light membrane on the ceiling creates an open, sky-like ambiance. Fully openable windows enable free airflow between indoors and outdoors, blurring the boundaries between spaces. This effectively weaves together the elements of nature, the richness of culture, and the conveniences of modern life, creating a harmonious and immersive living experience.

The second floor is designed specifically for the male homeowner, featuring a tea table and a display cabinet for tea utensils. The use of bamboo weaving and aged wood creates a rustic yet comfortable atmosphere, reflecting respect for and continuation of traditional culture. The second and third floors are adorned with courtyard landscapes, and electric curtains in every room allow residents to enjoy sunlight and nature. The third floor includes a living room and a small exhibition hall, enabling them to experience the continuity of family culture amidst the embrace of nature.

Heritage Halo utilizes exposed concrete as its primary material, renowned for its natural and unpretentious texture. This not only adds unique visual depth to the architecture but also reduces the environmental pollution caused by traditional plastering and painting. The extensive use of glass maximizes natural light, making the villa increasingly open, bright, and comfortable while minimizing the need for artificial lighting. The rooftop greenery is equipped with a rainwater collection system for automatic irrigation, embodying the eco-friendly principles of green buildings.
