This New York City apartment, designed by Boston-based Koo de Kir Architectural Interiors, is a refined haven tailored for an art collecting family. Firm founder Kristine Irving was tasked with converting a modern UWS New York 4 bedroom apartment from a new-construction "white box" to a vibrant residence. This residence celebrates the families eclectic taste. Blending quiet luxury, and exquisite bespoke details the home reflects the firm’s signature approach—warm, layered, and deeply personal. Thoughtful design details, including custom millwork, sculptural lighting, and curated artwork, create a sense of both comfort and sophistication. A mix of vintage and contemporary pieces, natural textures, and playful pattern adds richness to every room. This project embodies the best of urban apartment design—elevated yet livable, tailored yet relaxed. From a tween bedroom to a pattern-filled primary suite and guest bedrooms, the design team went deep into pattern, texture and unexpected combinations.
Partnering with NYC based KJ Remodeling and a selection of skilled makers, the team made alterations to the apartment's ceiling plan and all surfaces. The custom corner banquette anchors the living room and provides a central gathering space. Important art pieces ranging from Chuck Close, Francesco Clemente, Kara Walker, Rachel Perry, Jeff Koons, and more, are highlighted and placed throughout the residence.
