Located in Coconut Grove, Miami, Emathla Residence is a contemporary five-bedroom home that explores the relationship between tropical architecture, natural light, and indoor-outdoor living. Conceived as a seamless composition of architecture, interiors, and landscape, the project embraces the principles of Caribbean modernism while expressing a refined and timeless approach to luxury.
The residence is organized around generous social spaces that open effortlessly to the exterior, creating a continuous dialogue between the built environment and its lush surroundings. Large expanses of glazing blur the boundaries between inside and outside, allowing natural light to shape the interiors throughout the day while strengthening the connection to the landscape. The result is a home that feels open, airy, and deeply rooted in its climate and context.
A restrained material palette was carefully selected to enhance the architectural experience. Natural textures, warm finishes, and subtle contrasts create a sense of depth and sophistication without relying on excess. Clean lines and balanced proportions define the architectural language, while carefully considered details bring warmth and character to every space.
Outdoor areas play a central role in the daily life of the residence. A swimming pool, jacuzzi, and covered pavilion with an outdoor kitchen extend the living experience beyond the interior, creating a series of spaces designed for gathering, relaxation, and connection. These elements are integrated into the overall composition, reinforcing the project's emphasis on fluidity and continuity.
Inside, each room was designed as part of a cohesive whole. The interiors prioritize comfort, functionality, and timeless elegance, with a focus on craftsmanship, materiality, and proportion. Rather than following trends, the design seeks to create an enduring atmosphere that will remain relevant over time.
Emathla Residence is an exploration of modern tropical living—one that balances architecture, nature, and lifestyle to create a home that is both sophisticated and inviting. The project demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform everyday living into an experience defined by light, openness, and a strong sense of place.
