The project, created for a renowned temple, is a star-rated restroom complex for both men and women, inspired by “One flower, one world; one leaf, one bodhi.” It redefines the dignity of everyday rituals. The designer integrates Zen enlightenment into daily use, turning the act of using the restroom into a spiritual and sensory journey.
Rooted in temple culture and infused with modern Zen language, the space blends elegance, poetry, and inner comfort. The male area expresses strength through the raw texture of architectural concrete; the entrance cutout featuring Li Bai’s verse and lotus sculpture layers faith with light. The female area resembles a Jiangnan garden—golden lattices, reflections, and fragrance intertwine to evoke gentleness and grace.
The central island vanity embodies yin-yang duality, where water flows slowly among seasonal blossoms, symbolizing “water reflects the mind.”
The entire complex uses solar power and reclaimed water systems, while eco-friendly architectural concrete and stone reliefs reduce carbon footprint and embrace the temple’s spirit of “revering heaven and cherishing resources.”
